The Position

Reporting directly to the Development Manager, this role works closely with the Major Gifts team and contributes to supporting the Foundation in reaching its fundraising goals.

Primary responsibilities of the Development Coordinator, Major Gifts include:

  • Provide administrative support for the Development Manager and two senior development professionals
  • Plan and coordinate the implementation of assigned projects
  • Provide assistance with donor engagement activity, including the preparation of briefing documents (information and research), as well as donor cultivation and stewardship activities
  • Enter, maintain, and query information related to donors, using the Foundation’s customer relationship management system.

  • Ability to work with a varied group of stakeholders and interact with donors using tact, diplomacy and discretion
  • Foster an environment that ensures donors have a meaningful experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative, when required
  • Strong data analysis and proof-reading skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proven researching skills using a variety of sources and strategies
  • Computer skills: demonstrated advanced competence in computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook) and intermediate experience with Raiser’s Edge or another customer relationship management system


The ideal candidate will possess a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, plus three years related experience in administration, preferably working within fundraising, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

A willingness to work beyond work hours, evenings as required, and travel to BC Cancer-Surrey to interact directly with the Senior Development Officer located in Surrey and provide tactical support for tours/events.
