WHO WE ARE

The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncturists of Ontario was established under the Traditional Chinese Medicine Act, 2006 and the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 to regulate the practice of traditional Chinese medicine in the public interest. The College has a duty to ensure that the Ontario public has access to safe, effective and ethical care in their dealings with members of the College.

ABOUT THE ROLE

CTCMPAO is seeking a Manager, Registration and Quality Assurance to primarily oversee, manage and lead the work in the respective departments through the development and implementation of the Registration, Examinations and Quality Assurance Programs. Leading the maintenance of the College Register of members licensed to practice in the Province of Ontario and for the on-going competency/professional development requirements and education to fulfill the College’s legislated regulatory requirements. The manager also provides the team with general direction, sets priorities and ensures performance management practices.

Registration Program

Manages the maintenance of the College Register of members licensed to practice, develops and implements appropriate policies and procedures. Develops benchmarks performance metrics and best practices in the legislative and regulatory environment and ensures procedures are in keeping with Fair Registration Practices requirements as per the OFC.

Works with Registration Committee and Examination Appeals Committee. Leads the Coordinator in the development of agendas, minutes ensuring members are appropriately knowledgeable and oriented to College policies, procedures and processes in order to render fair decisions.

Oversees and leads the examination program in the collection, evaluation and processing of applications for entry to practice examinations including but not limited to Pan-Canadian, Safety and Jurisprudence. Develops and maintains relationships with national counterparts, educational institutions and third-party vendors.

Quality Assurance Program

Manages the design, development, implementation and monitoring of programs to assist members to improve their skills, knowledge and judgment including appropriate policies and procedures.

Establishes and implements standards for the Clinic Inspection, Peer Assessor / Mentor and Practice Assessment Resource tools and provides direct support and oversight to the administration of complex case files.

Works with Quality Assurance Committee and leads the Coordinator in the development of agendas, minutes ensuring members are appropriately knowledgeable and oriented to College policies, procedures and processes in order to render fair decisions.

  • Organization, time management and planning skills with proven ability to manage and deliver on multiple and competing priorities.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues using well-developed discretion, professionalism and judgement.
  • Exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative team player with various stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary degree in healthcare or a related discipline (public policy, social sciences, public or business administration) and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role. Health sector experience would be considered a definite asset.
  • Knowledge of registration and quality assurance programs, the Regulated Health Professions Act, 2006 and the Procedural Code, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Act, 2006 and regulations made under these Acts.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage processes.
  • Direct experience in Quality Assurance and/or Registration within a regulatory body in Ontario would be considered a definite asset.
  • Previous experience working the Councils, Boards and/or Committees would be considered an asset.
  • Proficient with computer applications generally used in offices such as, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to read, write and speak French is an asset.
  • A valid criminal record check will be required by the successful candidate.
