The Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE) is a non-profit charitable organization that develops innovative collaborative programs to enrich public education in Ottawa. Working with partners from business, education, government and the community, ONFE has launched over 40 programs since its inception in 1985. ONFE also acts as a catalyst for discussion and collaborative action around local education issues. 

Advancement Coordinator

You are an energetic and creative individual who is ready to support ONFE’s Advancement team with donor stewardship, prospect research, marketing, and events. You have experience managing a database, and you thrive in a dynamic and collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Advancement team with donor communications and stewardship.
  • Maintain the ONFE database for the advancement team. This would include running queries and building reports to support prospecting, fundraising and marketing initiatives as required.
  • Process donations in alignment with ONFE’s standards, procedures and practices.
  • Research prospective donors, funders, and sponsors
  • Assist with the scheduling and preparation of grant applications and reports
  • Support third-party event partners by maintaining relationships and attending events to represent ONFE
  • Support major ONFE fundraising events
  • Maintain marketing and communications content calendar for ONFE programs and fundraising initiatives.
  • Collaborate with ONFE staff to gather and schedule content for ONFE social media channels
  • Monitor key communications metrics to track performance of ONFE content
  • Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Other tasks as needed

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Demonstrated IT skills and knowledge, including knowledge of computer networking systems, CRM databases (preferably Raiser’s Edge and/or e-Tapestry), and proficient with the Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including interest in public speaking and making presentations.
  • Demonstrated time management skills and flexibility to meet emerging priorities.
  • Works professionally, collaboratively and respectfully with all colleagues and stakeholders to move ONFE’s work forward.
  • Takes responsibility for quality of work, including reviewing own work for accuracy and completeness, ownership of problems and issues.
  • Without prompting, undertakes straightforward tasks that go beyond the job's routine demands (e.g., helps others when own work is completed).
  • Demonstrates an awareness of the quality standards set by ONFE.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to others’ needs, opinions and desired objections in achieving results.
  • Enjoys working as part of a team.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle 

Education and experience

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma
  • One to two years of experience in fundraising and/or marketing preferred
  • Fluency in both English and French would be considered an asset

Employment is conditional on a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Records check, which is required within two weeks of acceptance of an offer.
