SPRINT Senior Care began caring for seniors and enabling seniors to care for themselves in 1983. We continue to do so today as an accredited, not-for-profit community support service agency in Toronto by offering a wide range of practical and low-cost services to seniors and their caregivers. Our services help seniors stay safe, connected, and live as independently as possible. They also prevent premature or inappropriate institutionalization. What you will do:

The Director, Neighbourhood & Home Care is responsible for effective and efficient functioning and oversight of neighbourhood and home care, including supportive housing buildings, dementia care residences, and the In-Home Services department, ensuring that the primary focus of service is client and family-centered care.

The role will have significant interactions with multiple health service providers, hospitals, service provider organizations, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and other relevant stakeholders.  This role would include, but is not limited to, the following activities:

- Ensure the overall effective operation of the Assisted Living programs (Supportive Housing), the Dementia Care residence, and the In-Home Services department

- Manage processes, systems and relationships as part of the local Ontario Health Team, ensuring the provision of outcomes, as required

- Develop and cultivate effective community partnerships and provide ongoing support of collaborative relationships with community partners

- Provide leadership to agency-wide initiatives including identifying and developing key partnerships, integration and service opportunities

- Manage Home Care agency contracts and vendor relations

- Identify, lead and support initiatives and projects designed to support best practices and SPRINT Senior Care’s strategic plan

- Lead and oversee the implementation of effective service delivery and outreach activities that support the organization’s philosophy, mission, values and strategic direction

- Lead and direct continuous quality improvement and risk management initiatives

- Monitor services against budgeted service units

- Monitor, manage and analyze services regularly and develop, monitor and measure quality improvement plans

- Implement and monitor key performance indicators and other activity measures for front line teams

- Lead the development or updating of documented policies and procedures

- Manage, coach and mentor assigned staff, ensuring they work in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives of the organization

- Supervise leadership staff and indirectly supervise an average of 150 Personal Support Workers (PSWs) in a unionized environment

- Actively contribute as a member of the management team to ensure effective agency functioning and growth in alignment with the strategic plan

- Participate in on-call rotation

- Provide back up support to directors and members of the leadership team as required

 

What you will need:

- Degree/diploma in related field or equivalent experience

- Five years management experience with direct supervision of a team, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and daily operations

- Experience supervising staff in a unionized environment is an asset

- Experience managing teams in assisted living, long-term care, home health or other health care setting is an asset

- Resourceful, creative and innovative with a can-do attitude

- Must have strong client service, leadership, and interpersonal skills

- Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically, with an intrinsic desire to make a difference

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to lead and facilitate group presentations, meetings and training

- Must have effective organizational skills including prioritization, delegation, managing multiple priorities and problem-solving

- Previous experience in identifying and building effective relationships to meet strategic objectives

- Experience in managing change initiatives impacting an organization or departments

- Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

- Experience using a client database

- Sensitive to working with people of diverse economic, age and cultural backgrounds and marginalized individuals, with an understanding of cultural competency and social determinants of health
