The GMSH is currently seeking an experienced communications professional to join our team. We are looking for someone that can provide leadership in the GMSH’s communication activities focused on HIV prevention and sexual health promotion with 2Spirit, gay, bisexual, queer and other transgender and cisgender men who have sex with men in Ontario. The ideal candidate will be passionate about sexual health promotion, community engagement, and building systems and processes to effectively and creatively communicate with internal and external audiences.
About the Gay Men’s Sexual Health Alliance (GMSH)
The GMSH is an Ontario-wide alliance consisting of 30 HIV service organizations, public health representatives, and researchers working to address HIV and the sexual health of Ontario’s diverse communities of 2-Spirit, gay, bisexual, queer and other transgender and cisgender men who have sex with men (2GBQT). The GMSH mandate is to support capacity building among our Alliance members. Our job is to work with Alliance members to strengthen organizational and sector-wide HIV-related work with 2GBQT men in Ontario.

Under the direction of the Director of the GMSH, and in collaboration with the GMSH team, the Manager of Communications is responsible for effectively developing, implementing and monitoring our organizational communications strategy to ensure that the Gay Men’s Sexual Health Alliance is an effective and respected champion of gay men’s health in Ontario. Key activities include brand development and deployment, ongoing communications with Alliance stakeholders across the province (ex. regular Alliance e-newsletters and notices), managing the GMSH’s online and traditional communications, marketing and media presence (websites, social media channels, media relations), managing communications campaigns, and contributing to capacity building and training with Alliance members on the use of online outreach for the delivery of health information and services to 2 Spirit, gay, bisexual, queer and other transgender and cisgender men who have sex with men (2GBQT).
The Manager of Communications will ensure skillful understanding of, and engagement, with diverse segments of Ontario’s 2GBQT population taking into consideration best practices and approaches in marketing and communications as well as ARAO, social justice, harm reduction, sex positivity, and inclusion principles and practices.
The GMSH office is located in Toronto. Candidates residing in other parts of Ontario, who do not want to relocate, will be considered and the successful candidate can be supported to work remotely.
