Reporting to the Executive Director and NSCR Controller, NSCR seeks a full time (35 hours/week) Manager, Accounting and Operations to provide front line responsibilities for the organization’s accounting and leadership in the efficient operation of NSCR’s office and administration.



1. Accounting

Under the supervision and direction of the NSCR Executive Director and Controller, the Manager, Accounting and Operations will provide primary accounting tasks to the organization including:

  • full cycle accounting: A/P, A/R, payroll & benefits, banking, cash flow and related services, processing charitable donations
  • budgeting and reporting: assists the Controller and NSCR managers with program budgeting and financial reporting
  • assisting with year-end and audit
  • input into appropriate financial policies and procedures

2. Office Operations

Under the supervision of the Executive Director and collaborating with other NSCR program managers, the Manager, Accounting and Operations will have lead responsibility to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the NSCR office and systems including:

  • ensures a safe, welcoming office environment with appropriately trained staff
  • ensures office staff and volunteers have the appropriate IT equipment, systems and training to achieve their goals
  • ensures appropriate records management
  • ensures appropriate contingency plans to manage operational risks
  • ensures regulatory compliance

3. Human Resources

In collaboration with the Executive Director and Program Managers, the Manager, Accounting and Operations will be responsible for supervision of select staff and overall HR policies and procedures including:

  • recruitment, training and supervision of front-of-office staff and the NSCR IT Specialist
  • ensures efficient administration of NSCR employee benefit plan
  • ensures currency and compliance with NSCR HR policies and procedures


Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Advanced accounting education at college or university level
  • Full cycle accounting experience; familiarity with not-for-profit organization accounting an asset
  • Proficient with Quickbooks; familiarity with Ceridian an asset
  • Ability to work independently but seek and take direction as appropriate
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, etc.), Adobe and other computer software
  • Superior communication and time management skills
  • Experience with office management and administration
  • Knowledge and experience with IT systems
  • Human resource (recruitment, training and supervision) experience
  • Capacity to work outside of regular office hours (9 am to 4:30 pm M – F)
