The Communication Public Relations Officer will  be responsible for:

  • Development of and the oversite of the Kennedy House Communication Plan;
  • Development of and the oversite of the Kennedy House Marketing and Promotion Plan;
  • Maintaining funder/stakeholder relationships for the identification, preparation and submission of Grant and Program proposals;
  • Management of Media Relations;
  • Preparing content and monitoring the various Social Media sites;
  • Preparing the Newsletter, and Annual Report;
  • Maintaining and updating website content;
  • Preparing correspondence, media releases, issue/briefing notes, presentations, speeches and other promotional material;
  • Organize and coordinate Civic Leader visits.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a discipline relevant to communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field, required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar position for a non-profit youth organization, preferred.
  • Clear Police Check and Vulnerable Sector Search, required.
  • Superior Verbal and Written Communication skills, required.
  • Media Training, preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence, preferred.
  • Fluent in other languages, an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines, required.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in MS Office programs, WordPress, and desktop publishing programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, fundraising database programs and Publisher, required.
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud software, an asset.
  • Experience and proven success in digital and social media marketing, required.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in implementing communications strategies that support the achievement of organizational goals, including researching and writing a variety of materials, including e-mail blasts, newsletter articles, website content and social media content, required.
