Co-ordinator of Community Knowledge Mobilization
One-year contract (with possibility of extension)
Full time (37.5 hours per week)

East Scarborough Storefront (The Storefront) is a project on Tides Canada’s Shared Platform. The Storefront uses an innovative Connected Community Approach to improve the wellbeing of people in the inner-suburban community of Kingston Galloway Orton Park (KGO). The Storefront is a Community Backbone Organization; as such we facilitate collaboration, build community and support people to learn and create together, to live healthy lives, to find meaningful work, to play and thrive.
We’d like you to join The Storefront staff team if you are passionate about community building, thrive in a people focused environment and are eager to hone your skills in knowledge sharing 2019 will be a transitional year for several cross-community strategies in East Scarborough. This
one-year contract is an opportunity galvanize the energy and talent of multiple players by creating and sharing accessible local knowledge that will help them in their community building work
Key Responsibilities include:
Develop and share knowledge of dominant and emerging trends in East Scarborough
Work with key partners to collect, understand and disseminate information appropriate to specific strategies including labour market forecasting, and planning projections
Work with partners to compile data and stories on the success and challenges of creating place-based strategies
Play a lead role in hosting symposiums and knowledge-exchange events as required
Work with staff and consultants to produce accessible documents about community building work using graphics and accessible text
Develop/maintain a database of community players and their contact information
Develop/maintain information/sharable documents on local research, demographics, resources, programs and services
Minimum 2 years experience in role(s) focused on information dissemination
Demonstrated success in producing effective and engaging written documents
Experience in the successful co-ordination of knowledge sharing events
Direct experience working in Scarborough and/or the non-profit sector an asset
A personal commitment to The Storefront’s aims and objectives and an understanding of or willingness to learn about the way The Storefront engages in the community (the Connected Community Approach)
A welcoming, respectful and enthusiastic approach to working with people
An asset based and collaborative approach
An ability to thrive working with multiple groups on multiple projects
Excellent ability to produce accessible written communication
Ability to use images to convey complex ideas
Ability to think strategically and link individual stories to larger goals
Excellent organization skills
Ability to accurately manage details
Strong computer proficiency
Post-secondary education in a relevant field
Full time Monday to Friday, schedule to be determined, occasional evening and weekend work required.
