The Model Schools Literacy Project (MSLP) administered by the Martin Family Initiative, supports the reading and writing achievements for Kindergarten to Grade 3 students in twelve First Nations schools across Canada. The goal is to ensure that every student reads and writes well enough by the end of Grade 3 to support continued school success. The MSLP is currently looking for an IT Support Administrator to join the team. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The IT Support Administrator will support the Model Schools Literacy Project by overseeing and managing all technical aspects of the project. Working under the direction of the MSLP Chief Advisor, the incumbent will be the lead technical contact for the MSLP Team, MSLP Model Schools and MSLP Partners.

 Videoconferencing Solution

  • Provide oversight to the reliable operation of the videoconferencing solution infrastructure and endpoints with respect to connectivity, operation and troubleshooting. Includes liaison with MSLP Team, Telus and school personnel for all technical needs.
  • Provide remote end-user support of the solution by analyzing, diagnosing and resolving minor issues.
  • Engage TELUS Collaboration Services’ Customer Service Centre to investigate and resolve issues; track and monitor for escalation and provide follow-up communications to ensure satisfactory and timely resolution.
  • Ensure operational guides are produced, updated and distributed accordingly.
  • Oversee project management in the onboarding of new Model Schools and be able to provide guidance and advice in the planning and deployment process.
  • Book end-user training as required.

Google for Education

  • Administer the MSLP Google for Education domain, users and groups, including security and App settings and access permissions.
  • Support Amplified IT (the Model Schools’ Google for Education specialist) in the deployment of Google for Education domains in each onboarding school.
  • Support school personnel through deployment process and beyond to ensure objectives and timelines are met.

Additional Duties

  • Support fully operational status of MSLP team IT systems.
  • Provide onboarding and training support for MSLP team on IT systems and tools (Google, Webex, Jabber, and mobile device support, where applicable).
  • Identify effective solutions and develop long-term IT strategies that could provide improvements in efficiency for program operations.
  • Other IT duties as required by need.


  • Post-Secondary Degree, Diploma, or Certification in computer sciences, network administration, IT, or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience is required.
  • Solid understanding of Cisco Collaborations and network architecture, design, tools and equipment.
  • Excellent understanding of UC; Routing & switching; MPLS; security firewalls; security VPN; Wan; LAN; and cabling.
  • Excellent understanding of computer systems, mobile devices and other tech products with ability to diagnose and resolve end-user technical issues remotely.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with First Nations organizations an asset.
  • Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Check.

Additional Information:

  • The position is full-time; salary consistent with qualifications and experience.
  • Candidate will work remotely from their home-based office.
  • Travel to Model Schools and meetings will be required.
  • Flexibility in schedule as this position may require extended support hours to accommodate time zones of the Model Schools.
