Co-op Manager

Cartier Square Housing Co-operative Inc. is seeking a dynamic individual to oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Co-op. This is a permanent full-time position (35 hours/ week). Cartier Square is a 67-unit 11-story building located in downtown Ottawa. The present manager is retiring, but will provide assistance to the new manager as needed to ensure a smooth transition. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the manager is responsible for all operational services, including:

  • Corporate Services
  • Office Administration
  • Financial Administration and Bookkeeping Services
  • Member Selection and Unit Allocation
  • Building Management and Supervision of Maintenance Staff
  • Co-op Development and Member Involvement
  • Administering the City of Ottawa Rent-Geared-to-Income Program

The successful applicant should have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of management and/or administration experience, preferably in the non-profit or co-op housing sector
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Housing Services Act, the Co-operative Corporations Act and other provincial and municipal regulations related to co-op housing
  • Excellent organizational skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent financial administration skills and strong bookkeeping skills
  • Ability to interact with a diverse membership, demonstrating sensitivity, fairness and integrity
  • Detailed knowledge of and experience with various computer software programs, including Word, Excel, Power Point, Quatro Pro, etc.
  • Knowledge of NewViews for Non-Profit Housing is considered an asset
  • Masters Degree in Social Sciences or 10 years experience in the management and/or administration of social housing is considered an asset
  • Ability to effectively work in the French language is considered an asset

Some evening work is required to attend meetings. Salary is highly competitive, consummate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include the Co-operators Benefit Package and OMERS pension.
