Concord in the City is a day program that supports adults over the age of 21 with intellectual disabilities. Program assistants work with participants by supporting their social goals, developing life and job skills. Participants are supported in a 3:1 (participant to staff ratio).


Reporting to the Director, the Support Assistant is responsible to ensure that the day to day support provided to participants of Concord in the City and meet the expectations of those participants to enhance his/her quality of life. The support provided must also align with the values of Concord in the City. We currently have multiple vacancies for the role of Program Support Assistant available.


Be familiar with and consistently apply the principles of Concord in the City with respect to the Mission, Vision, Values and Policies and Procedures.
Provide support and coaching in the areas of social skills, communication, vocation and leisure activities.
Assist participants in outcomes related to personal goals.
Consistently follow, where appropriate, Behavioural and Crisis Protocols as documented. Document and report incidents and serious occurrences immediately.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, natural supports, volunteers, professionals, community members and others.
Perform all other related duties as assigned by a Director or Assistant Director

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Completion of Human Services Diploma from a recognized Community College or University or completion of Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) and one year of related experience working with people with disabilities.

Solid communication skills both verbal and written.

Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team.

Demonstrated flexibility, creativity and sound judgment.

Must have the ability to physically support adults with disabilities along with toileting and feeding.

A valid Driver’s License, with a minimum G2 and a reliable vehicle will be considered an asset.

Hours of work: 15 - 25 hours of work per week (daytime only) including some Saturdays, possibily of increased hours.
