Junior Translator 

(One Year Contract with benefits, full time hours)

The role:

Reporting to the Lead, French Content, the primary responsibility of the Junior Translator is to provide translation from English to French for clinical and drug information. The Junior Translator is responsible for ensuring quality of finalized French text and accurate transition to online and printed formats through quality assurance (QA) processes. Occasional translation from French to English may be required.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for providing accurate translations of created content primarily from English to French. Some translation from French to English may be required.
  • Responsible for proofreading and applying CPhA Created Content Style to all text.
  • Responsible for QA of French content in online and printed formats.
  • Collaborates with the Lead, French Content and French Content Editor to develop and maintain our French Created Content Style Guide.
  • Works closely with Lead, French Content, French Content Editor, Scientific Editors, Clinical Editors.
  • Liaises with Lead, French Content, French Content Editor, Scientific Editors, Clinical Editors, Graphic Designers, IT staff.
  • Maintains an active log of issues with content using JIRA.

 Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Translation. Specialization in medical terminology is an asset.
  • This position would be ideal for a new or recent graduate with up to 2 years’ experience. New graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Certification completed or in progress from a provincial or territorial association of translators, interpreters and terminologists desired.

 Experience:

  •  2 years’ experience preferred.
  • Experience with JIRA and XML is an asset but not required.

Skills:

  •  Bilingualism (French & English) is required.
  • Strong translation skills.
  • Desire to develop translation skills related to medical terminology.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting, in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Aptitude in learning new technology.
  • Salary will be commensurate with experience.
