This full-time position reports to the Director, Finance and Administration, but receives day-to-day direction from the Comptroller. The primary responsibility is to support the finance team, and when necessary, to provide select administrative support to the Foundation.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Processing donations and preparing acknowledgements and journal entries including preparing on-line donation batches for posting and generating reports;
    • Preparing and issuing charitable tax receipts, entering codes in the system, and storing documents;
    • Accounts receivable;
    • Bank reconciliations;
    • Maintaining donor information and data entry;
    • Coordinating activities related to life insurance policies;
    • Supporting the submission of tax remittances and annual filings;
    • Maintaining electronic filing of finace documents and generating various reports; as well as
    • Some administrative duties including, but not limited to managing office equipment and responding to general finance department inquiries.

      SKILLS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: 

    • Post-secondary education in Accounting and/or enrollment in the CPA Program
    • 2+ years in a similar role
    • Experience in charitable sector would be an asset including knowledge of charitable taxation and CRA regulations
    • Proficiency in computer skills and Microsoft applications: Excel (Advanced), Word, Outlook
    • Highly organized and effective team player
    • Strong communication and time management skills with an eye for detail
    • Ability to identify potential problems and articulate possible solutions concisely and clearly
    • Work has to be done in a timely manner with the highest degree of accuracy possible
    • Discretion is having access to and handling very confidential information
