Turning Point Youth Services, an accredited, multi service, children’s mental health centre that provides a range of residential and community based programs for at-risk youth, aged 12-24 and their families, is seeking a dynamic and forward thinking Senior Manager to provide leadership to the agency’s clinical programs and staff.



The Manager, Clinical and Counselling Services is responsible for the direct supervision of a team of multi-disciplinary clinical staff involved in the delivery and implementation of a range of therapeutic programs and services. This includes clinical supervision for the Agency’s residential and community-based clinical staff, as well as overseeing the new Intensive In-Home Services that will be launched in early Fall. The Clinical Manager will manage staff performance and ensure both individual and organizational targets are attained.

In consultation with the Executive Director and in partnership with the Manager, YJ Clinical and Program Evaluation Services, the Clinical Manager provides overall coordination of the Agency’s clinical services, develops and maintains standards of excellence in the clinical programs and provides consultation and support to the Agency’s Program Managers and program staff as needed.

The Clinical Manager will assume a co-lead role in the development and implementation of clinical training to support the strategic objectives of the organization. The Manager will take a lead role in preparing staff and Managers for Accreditation. The Clinical Manager will establish a presence within the local and city-wide service communities and take a lead role in the development of new services for the Agency.  This position is a member of the Agency’s Senior Management Team.


  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, M.A., Ph.D. or equivalent related education; previous training and/or experience in organizational and change management will be considered an asset.
  • Registration with a professional governing body such as Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Services Workers (RSW), or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (RP), or the equivalent as determined by the Executive Director.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a relevant clinical supervisory or management position in health or social services.
  • Experience within a unionized environment an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrated skills in the area of treatment of adolescents and transitional age youth, particularly youth at risk.
  • Clinical training that reflects the diversity and complexity of individuals and families that use the services of the Agency.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Toronto area children’s service system, relevant legislation (CYFSA, YCJA) and policies and procedures of the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.
  • Advanced knowledge of evidence informed practices, program evaluation methods and tools.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Able to carry a heavy workload with multiple priorities.
  • Strong administrative, organizational and computer skills.
  • Able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Sensitivity to, and ability to work with, a diverse staff and client group.
