The Canadian Cancer Society is a national, community of volunteers who mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer.


In your role, you will be helping the Canadian Cancer Society raise funds for cancer research and to provide support for people living with cancer. Your strong leadership skills and organizational guidance will provide leadership in your community in order to reach the financial goal and raise awareness to strengthen the fight against cancer.

What is Involved?

Working collaboratively with your staff partner, you will help shape the strategic direction of the Daffodil Days Campaign which includes identifying opportunities for event growth and success. You will have an opportunity to engage a team of pin sellers and team captains as well as recruit new volunteers.

Position Details:

  • Working collaboratively with your Canadian Cancer Society staff partner and the CCS volunteers, providing leadership support and guidance in planning and implementing Daffodil Days.
  • Recruit, train and coordinate Daffodil Days Captains and volunteers.
  • Contact a variety of retail outlets to determine their willingness to have a daffodil pin display at their location during Daffodil Month.
  • Provide support and resources to volunteers as appropriate. 
  • Deliver the displays at the end of March so they are ready for April and assist with the pick-up/restocking of the displays during and at the end of Daffodil Month.

Time Commitment: (January - April 2019) 

  • Several hours per week from January to March leading up to Daffodil Month.
  • Increasing commitment during the last week in March, the month of April and the first week in May.

You are excited about raising funds in order to contribute to CCS programs impacting those experiencing cancer and to make lifesaving research possible. You have strong communication and organizational skills.  Your dynamic, friendly personality will encourage others.  Fundraising knowledge or experience is an asset.
