Volunteers are critical to the success of local student nutrition programs. In most schools, dedicated staff give freely of their time to ensure that their school has a functional student nutrition program. But they cannot do it alone. Food for Learning relies on parents, grandparents, service club members and community volunteers to keep these programs operational.

Volunteering in a Food for Learning program can be very rewarding. Food for Learning volunteers have a direct impact on the daily lives of children and youth.

Annually, over 1,000 people help with Food for Learning programs in Hastings and Prince Edward counties. Together they contribute over 30,000 hours to feeding kids.

Join us! Food for Learning welcomes volunteers who are interested in the following tasks:

  • Preparing and/or serving food to students
  • Assisting with program administration (bookkeeping, data collection, reporting)
  • Delivering groceries to schools
  • Assisting with our various fund-raising initiatives or joining our Fundraising Committee
