The Toronto Workforce Innovation Group (TWIG) is Toronto’s workforce planning board. Our mandate is to work with stakeholders to improve Toronto’s competitive workforce. We disseminate information and convene stakeholders to address workforce development trends, gaps and opportunities in Toronto. We work from a unique multi-stakeholder approach to engage representatives across sectors from many different perspectives.
Toronto Workforce Innovation Group is recruiting new Board members for a 3-year term. We are particularly interested in candidates with skills in human resources, marketing-communications, business development experience and expertise in legal issues related to non-profits. We are also interested in directors from Toronto’s key employment or industrial sectors such as Financial Services, Food Processing, Construction and Information Communications Technology.
The Board of Directors meets every 2 months, in the evening. There are also committees and working groups. In addition to meetings, board members are expected to act as ambassadors for the organization, attend events, and connect TWIG to business, professional or community networks. Board members have legal and fiduciary responsibility for the organization and typically serve 2 consecutive terms of 3 years each. The Board is responsible for hiring and overseeing the Executive Director.
To be on the Board of Directors candidates must work or live in the City of Toronto. Candidates may send expressions of interest in Board membership to Board Vice-Chair Jo-Anne Liburd at jliburd @ hotmail.com. More information about the organization is found on the website, www.workforceinnovation.ca.
