Bluffs Food Bank offers a Grocery Program (providing groceries to clients), a Meal Program (serving clients a meal on Thursdays), a Clothing Boutique and an Income Tax Program. Every week we serve approximately 400 families representing over 1,200 people. Our 15 square kilometre service area sees a mix of people new to Canada, those who have may have recently lost their job, receive Ontario Disability, Ontario Works, Employment Insurance and/or recovering from addiction. They are welcomed at The Bluffs Food Bank with a warm smile and hospitable attitude.

Volunteering at the Bluffs Food Bank is a chance to join a fun and community-minded team of people helping our neighbours fight food insecurity. You will make an immediate and positive difference in the lives of our clients.

Although we welcome anyone who can work well with a team and is willing to make a commitment to our organization, we are particularly interested in volunteers who can lift at least 12 kg (approximately 25 pounds), due to the need to handle cases of foods and beverages.

Examples of work done by our Volunteers:
- Unloading skids from food delivery trucks;
- Sorting and organizing groceries;
- Putting groceries away;
- Managing inventory;
- Preparing groceries for distribution to clients;
- Interviewing clients;
- Providing clients with food boxes;
- Preparing soup and sandwiches;
- Preparing and serving food (according to safe food handling requirements) and cleaning up our kitchen;
- Setting up and cleaning up our centre.

Basic Requirements for All Volunteers:
1. You must be at least 16 years old.
2. You must be willing to provide a police records check if you are 18 or older.
3. Being a volunteer means making a commitment! We require a commitment of 6 months of at least 1 shift per week.
For high school students, we require an 60 hour commitment.
Shifts are about 4 hours long. We have shifts Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Note that we do not operate on weekends.
