About the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) Ottawa:

At YNPN Ottawa our goal is to create a strong and connected nonprofit sector in Ottawa with platforms to share experiences and expertise, discuss and solve problems, and celebrate successes as a community. We're a proud chapter of YNPN National - founded in San Francisco, California in 1997. There are currently over 40 chapters across the United States and we are very proud to be the 1st Canadian chapter of this exciting movement!

The most important thing to remember is that we're here for you - whether it's through networking opportunities, educational workshops, or mentoring, we're here to help each other as we learn and grown within this sector.  Our mission is to provide emerging leaders in Ottawa with opportunities for meaningful collaboration, networking, and professional development to strengthen leadership and capacity within the nonprofit sector.


Board of Directors skills and expertise

At this time, the Board is seeking to recruit individuals who have some experience and knowledge in a few key areas AND who are interested in expanding their knowledge base by working in areas where they have less experience.  The Board of YNPN Ottawa believes in the importance of professional development and encourages applicants who are hard-working, adaptable, and wanting to expand their competencies to apply. Specific areas where we are seeking additional expertise on the Board at this time are as follows: event management · strategic planning · communications · risk mamagement.  

Expectations of Board members: accept a 2-year minimum term, renewable every year.  Attend and actively participate in at least 6 regular Board meetings (a minimum of 10 are held annually) and all YNPN events as schedule allows.  Willingness to serve on at least 1 committee of the Board: Finance & Fundraising · Governance · Programming · Communications · Membership. Contribute financially on a monthly basis, as able.
