|Canadian Network for International Surgery (CNIS)||Long term (6 months to 1 year)||2019-02-01||2019-02-28|
Do you want to join a team of people that are working towards saving lives and increasing access to quality health of low-resource communities in Africa?! Then, read on!
The Canadian Network for International Surgery (CNIS) saves lives by "empowering people to reduce injury and death through sustainable educational programs." Our volunteer surgeons and obstetricians travel to low to high-conflict areas to share their surgical skills. Why? There's an incredible need. Injuries in Africa continue to prevail with a lack of skilled surgical care to meet this need. Mortality rates are rising and women and children are losing their lives giving birth. So, we travel with suitcases filled with model skulls and real surgical equipment so that we can teach African health professionals how to perform brain surgery, Caesarean sections and much more. Our participants can have the confidence and capacity to successfully perform surgeries and thus, save lives.
CNIS is searching for a part-time Volunteer Office Assistant for its office located on beautiful Granville Island in Vancouver, BC. Help support the life-saving work of the CNIS by preparing for surgeons and others to complete work on the African continent.
2-4 working hours per day: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (hours can be discussed to accommodate your schedule)
