  • Board Member / Leadership
On-going (More than 1 year)

JMP has an illustrious history and, over the last 20 years, has pioneered in the field of community-engaged art for social change (ASC). Now in its 39th year of operations, JMP works across Canada and internationally and is the driving force for the International Centre of Art for Social Change ICASC.ca). We are seeking new board members with diverse backgrounds and experience in any of communications, social innovation, fundraising, and/or networking strategies. We are looking for people with passion for the arts and social/environmental justice!
Now completing a six-year, multi-million dollar research project, JMP/ICASC is in a transitional and exciting phase!

We are soon to launch two major national initiatives (a mentorship program and the creation of branch hubs) and are in the process of reframing our communications strategies and launching a new, three-year strategic plan.

The main issues/needs for JMP's board in the next three years are:

  1. FUNDING: We need to expand and secure steady, reliable funding from organizations and individuals to sustain and expand our work.
  2. COMMUNICATIONS: Analyze, revitalize, and strategize to expand our presence, engagement, and further build community.
  3. NETWORK BUILDING/WEAVING: JMP/ICASC needs to grow our existing network “ecosystems” for future collaboration, partnerships and impact.
  4. BOARD DIVERSITY: We have a small, stable, and committed board; however, we are looking to enhance it with directors from diverse backgrounds and experience.

What experience and participation we require:

Any one or more of the following:

  • Fund Development -- Identify strategies and sources for revenue generation. Actively participate in donor development.
  • Communications – Participate in the tuning of JMP’s communications strategies.
  • Social/collaborative Innovation Strategies – Actively pursue opportunities for JMP to engage with arts and non-arts social innovators and changemaking organizations; provide connectivity and support for the bridging of sectoral silos.
  • Network Weaving – Assist JMP to grow our existing network “ecosystems” for future collaboration, partnerships and impact.
  • A passion for the arts and social/environmental justice!

Approximate Time Committment: 1-2 hours per month
Board Meetings per Year: 4 plus the AGM
