The David Suzuki Foundation is seeking a professional, enthusiastic volunteer who has a passion for customer service and building supporter relationships.

Our supporters are at the core of the Foundation and we couldn’t do our work without them. We strive to ensure they are kept up to date and in touch with our work at all times.

As a key member in the Development team you will go above and beyond to deliver exceptional donor experiences and help us build long-term relationships with our supporters.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone hoping to gain insight and skills useful for entering into a career with any non-profit. 

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Work with the Annual Giving Officer to assist with various campaign activities, such as mailings and donor stewardship
  • Work with the Community Giving team to call current donors for updates to their monthly gifts and their contact information
  • Update and input records in our database system (we use Raiser’s Edge and Artez)
  • Process incoming mail donations
  • Send outgoing tax receipts and letters
  • Complete personal thank-you calls and notes to donors, and other donor recognition and stewardship activities, as needed

Skills and knowledge required:

  • You are an enthusiastic and vibrant communicator with exceptional phone skills
  • You are a natural at multi-tasking and can easily master detail-oriented work
  • You are computer savvy or have a willingness to learn
  • You are a relationship builder and can put yourself in "our supporters’ shoes"
  • You are familiar with the Foundation's mission and enjoy sharing important work

Time Commitment:

  • One day per week at the Foundation's Vancouver office (either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday)
  • Minimum six-month commitment

Support and training provided:

  • Volunteers will receive Foundation orientation
  • Work closely with the development and donor relations team
  • Supervisor, key staff and senior volunteers will provide training and ongoing support necessary for success in this role
