Schedule: 10-12 hours/week (flexible)
Start Date: As soon as possible
This role is perfect for you if you’re looking to get involved, learn about our food system, build on your skills, and make connections and a difference in your community!
Food Stash Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2016 with the goal of rescuing surplus food directly from suppliers and redirecting it to households in our community that experience food insecurity, while reducing the environmental impact of food waste. Whether it is through our rescued food box program—delivering weekly food boxes right to the doorsteps of our members—or through our partnerships with other local non-profit food security programs that we deliver to, we are on a mission to bridge the food insecurity gap and bring awareness to how our food choices impact our environment and our health.
The Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the Program Coordinator with both preparation and implementation of the activities associated with the Rescued Food Box Program. The focus of this position is to assist the Program Coordinator during our main program days which will involve: sorting through all the produce collected throughout the week (Sundays), assembling Rescued Food Boxes, organizing our fridge and freezer space, and ensuring equipment is clean and ready to use before the food boxes go out for delivery (Mondays and Tuesdays). This role will be pivotal to the program as we continue to bring on more families and rescue more food! Join a small, vibrant, and passionate team on a mission to reduce the environmental impact of food waste and bridge the food insecurity gap that exists within our community!
This volunteer position is perfectly suited for someone who is looking to gain new skills and experiences within food, environmental, and sustainability initiatives.
