KIDS.NOW IS AN AFTER SCHOOL LEADERSHIP AND MENTORING PROGRAM FOR GRADE 6, 7 AND 8 STUDENTS. AS A VOLUNTEER MENTOR, YOUR COMMITMENT IS FOR 12 WEEKS, ONCE A WEEK IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, AFTER SCHOOL FOR 90 MINUTES, STARTING FEBRUARY AND MARCH 2019. SCHOOLS ARE LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE GREATER TORONTO AREA. VOLUNTEER MENTORS ARE NEEDED FOR SCARBOROUGH, NORTH TORONTO, WEST END TORONTO, MISSISSAUGA AND BRAMPTON.
What do we do? We mentor youth with essential life skills, enabling them to make positive choices, increase their self-awareness, self-confidence, and communication skills. We also provide kids with the tools to manage stress. With the right skills and dedicated mentors, kids have the power to reach their full potential. They become confident and resilient youth who transition successfully into high school and prepare for a brighter future.
You will have 10 to 15 students in your group. These students have applied to participate in the kids.now Program!
The weekly sessions are lively, fun, interactive, and include skits/role play, presentations, working in teams and pairs, learning the importance of being a team player, some physical activity.
Kids.now provides all materials and training.
Interested? Requirements: At least 21 years of age. Fun and enthusiastic. Open to other cultures and diversity. Sense of humour. Patient. Committed to making a difference in the lives of kids. Interested in developing new skills that improve your own life.
