Become an Adult Literacy Tutor and make a difference in someone's life!

The Partners program provides one-to-one reading, writing and math tutoring for low-literacy, English-speaking adults. Once matched, learner and tutor work together to develop a learning plan based on the learner’s needs and interests. Tutoring happens in a public space such as a library.

We need volunteers who fit the following criteria:

* excellent oral and written English skills
* high school graduation or equivalent
* at least 19 years of age
* patient and non-judgemental
* complete a criminal record check

Volunteer tutors are asked to commit to the program for at least 6 months, although you're welcome to stay longer! Once matched with a learner, you can expect to spend 1-3 hours per week on lesson prep and tutoring. Tutors should be willing to travel within Surrey/White Rock to meet learners.

Training is mandatory and provided free of charge. On-going support and training is also provided.

We are accepting applications now for October 2019 training.

Meet program staff and learn more at one of our information sessions.
