Position:                           Customer Service Desk Assistant Volunteer

Time Commitment:      Mondays and Thursdays (1:00pm-4:00pm), Fridays (9:30am-4:00pm)

Position Summary

To carry out registration enquiry and reception work that contributes to quality client services

Position Description

  • Greeting office visitors and portraying a friendly, welcoming environment
  • Answering questions and providing information regarding recreation programs and housing application
  • Assisting clients to fill up recreation registration or membership form
  • Handling workshop sign up and free ticket distribution
  • Answering telephone and transferring calls to the appropriate staff
  • Helping residents with their requests, such as making in-house appointment, receiving parcels, etc.
  • Filing, photocopying, typing , faxing and handling of miscellaneous clerical duties
  • Promoting the organization in a positive manner

Qualifications:

  • Professional phone voice with pleasant telephone manner
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Good knowledge of office machinery and computer skills
  • Patient and understanding of frail seniors
  • Working knowledge of English – both written and spoken
  • Ability to speak fluent Cantonese – to communicate with Cantonese-speaking clients

Boundaries/Limitations:

  • Will not handle cash
  • Will not perform general office maintenance, e.g. fix office machinery
  • Will not lift a person

Orientation/Training:  Orientation to the organization, its policies and office procedures.  Participate in workshops related to assisting frail elderly and communication with elderly.
