Are you a security guard or otherwise work in a protective role? Is physical fitness and being healthy important to you? Do you seek to be a healthy role model?
We currently have a student who is interested in the role of policing/security. He would love to connect with someone who works in this area to learn more about the role, the different opportunities that might exist, and the skills needed to excel. He is also seeking a fitness and healthy living role model, to help improve his own fitness.
Student Links is an initiative by Community Living Ontario. Our goal is to promote inclusiveness for those living with an intellectual disability. Student Links is a program specifically for students between the ages of 14-21. We match these students with a mentor in their community with whom they share common interests. Students are provided with an opportunity to explore different roles based on their interests, practice hard and soft skills and network. This helps them form decisions about the choices available to them upon graduation.
The role of a mentor is a highly rewarding one, and can take many forms. I seek people who are passionate about their work, and those who want to share their expertise with someone who might not otherwise be exposed to such experiences. There is no requirement in terms of time commitments. A mentorship is formed with the help of the program coordinator and can take many forms depending on the availability of the mentor and student.
If this sounds like something you would enjoy contact Sarah Ellis-Pierron at email@example.com or 519-520-8268 for more information on this or any other mentorship opportunities. Check out our website at: https://communitylivingontario.ca/en/francais-student-links/
