Job Title: Volunteer – Equipment Collection Assistant

Locations: Calgary AB, Kitchener ON, London ON, Mississauga ON, Ottawa ON, Thunder Bay ON, Whitby ON

Reporting to: Chair, Equipment Committee

We are looking for multiple candidates for each satellite location who are willing to be responsible for picking up donation offers from individuals and fire services in a radius surrounding their location. They will be responsible for working with the satellite location lead to coordinate delivering the donated items to the nearest satellite location at a suitable time for the satellite location lead and the storage facility. The satellite location lead will be responsible for tracking the donations and ensuring the safekeeping of the donation at the satellite location. Donated items received frequently include firefighter bunker gear and other firefighter protective equipment. Additional donated items might include any firefighting equipment commonly used by firefighters.

Time Commitment: Approximately 2 - 10 hours per month 


Under the direction of the Satellite location lead:

  • Pick up donations from individuals and fire services in a radius surrounding the Satellite location
  • Deliver donation offers to the Satellite location for pick up by the Satellite location lead


Skills and Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Access to the use of a pickup truck is an asset
  • Positive disposition, solutions-focused individual who takes pride in their work
  • Team-oriented, collaborative and supportive
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Operates with professionalism
  • Strong verbal communication skills


Please note, as FWB is a not for profit organization, FWB does not reimburse volunteers for fuel costs, mileage, insurance, or wear and tear on personal vehicles used by volunteers in the course of providing any volunteer services to FWB.
