Peel Addiction Assessment and Referral Centre (PAARC) is a community-based, non-profit agency with charitable status, with a mission to significantly reduce the prevalence, harm and impact of addictions and concurrent disorders. Our head office is in east Mississauga, and we have satellite offices in west Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon. PAARC partners and collaborates with a wide variety of organizations, including hopsitals, other agencies serving those living with addictions and mental illness, municipalities, and correctional services. We are well respected in our community and enjoy an excellent relationship with our funders. PAARC is funded primarily by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, through the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (MH LHIN), the Central West Local Health Integration Network (CW LHIN), and the Region of Peel. PAARC is also the Peel site provider for the Ontario Back on Track Remedial Measures Program for those convicted of impaired driving or found to be in the warn range.
PAARC is seeking a volunteer Board Member with active accounting knowledge and skill, and with the following attributes:
Board members are expected to commit approximately six to eight hours per month engaged in Board activities, including preparing for and attending Board and committee meetings, attending LHIN events and educational events, and one all-day annual Board retreat each year (held on a Saturday). Variable terms are available. Regular Board meetings are currently held on the third Thursday of the month, beginning at 6:00 pm, and are held at our head office location at 5170 Dixie Road, Suite 302, Mississauga, L4W 1E3. Committee and task force meetings are held ad hoc, dependent upon the schedules of the committee and task force members. Board members must demonstrate that they meet the legal requirements to sit on a Board of Directors for a registered charity in the Province of Ontario.
Board members are unpaid, and are able to submit for expenses incurred in the course of their work on behalf of PAARC, according to our policies.
