West Neighbourhood House (formerly St. Christopher House) is a social service agency in Toronto's downtown West-end. In partnership with our neighbours, West Neighbourhood House strives to find solutions to problems, expose current issues and to develop relevant services to our diverse community. 

The West Employment Services and Training at the West Neighbourhood House offers many services available for the community when it comes to cover letter and resume development, training, referrals, online job searching, employment resource library, second career, interview and networking skills, job fairs, among others.  

Volunteer Duties:

  • To help the general public with their employment questions

  • Critique resumes and cover letters

  • Assist with on-line job search – accessing different job banks or company websites

  • Attaching resumes and cover letter to emails

  • Assist people with printing of resume/cover letter/job postings

  • Orient people with the various employment resources at our location

  • Assist people with accessing employment resources

  • Assist people (if interested) to fill out an Inquiry Form for the Employment Preparation Program

  • Provide information about our monthly workshops

  • Provide general information about 1033 programs and/or other programs across the house

Skills Required:

  • Professional experience or training in current job search techniques, employment trends & resume critiquing a must
  • Speak fluent English and technology savvy
  • Be friendly, open, reliable, patient, non-judgemental and non discriminating
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • HR background is an asset

Program Time & Location:

*** Current need for Tuesday morning, 10:30am - 12:30pm ***
