Carty House is a small non profit that provides transitional housing and support to refugee women in Ottawa. Carty House offers safety, accommodation and support to its residents as they move through the refugee system and build the resources necessary to live integrated and independent lives in Canadian society.

We are currently recruiting for one member at large position for our Board of Directors. We are seeking a responsible, skilled professional with non-profit board experience who is able to commit time and energy to our board.

Carty House is an operational "hands on" board. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Board experience (2+ years)
  • Availability every 4th Thursday of the month for meetings 6-8pm in Sandy Hill
  • The ability to commit at least 10 hours per month to the board
  • Interest in supporting immigrants/refugees and women
  • Willingness to participate in fundraising and other house activities
  • Openness to learning
  • Ability to work effectively, professionally and collaboratively on a diverse team
  • Commitment and desire to serve a three-year term
