North Peel & Dufferin Community Legal Services is looking for a new member for our board of directors. We are a community legal clinic serving residents of Brampton, Caledon and Dufferin County. We provide free legal services to low income people, including help with tenancies, disability benefits, social assistance, immigration and employment law. See details at www.NorthPeelDufferinJustice.ca/. Community legal clinics are funded by Legal Aid Ontario but each one is an independent non-profit corporation with a community based board of directors.
We are looking for a board member with financial expertise to fill the role of Treasurer. It is a requirement that board members live or work in the area that we serve (Brampton, Caledon and Dufferin County).
Our board of directors is a policy board, with operational matters left to the Executive Director. The board meets monthly; however, there are no meetings in July or August, and the June meeting is the Annual General Meeting. We meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m., usually for about 1½ hours.
Please apply by email to the Executive Director, Jack Fleming at FlemingJ@lao.on.ca by 5:00 p.m., Nov. 15, 2019.
