This Social Skills program supports individuals aged 2 -25 with Autism Spectrum disorder to participate in lessons and facilitated activities. Alongside a social skills facilitator, volunteers may be be asked to act as a behavioural coach in programs where they model the social skills being taught to the class. In addition, volunteers may be asked to prep the classroom for lessons such as setting up group games or prepping any lesson material of the day. Topics of the lesson will depend on the curriculum of the social skill group but typically involve learning a skill that is relevant to making and keeping friends.
This program runs every Tuesday and Thursday from July 2, 2019 to August 22, 2019. Hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Knowledge, skills and talents required:
Basic knowledge of autism and applied behaviour Analysis is an asset. Organized, energetic and enthusiastic, caring compassionate , willingness to learn and have fun.
