Burnaby MoreSports Society: Description
Burnaby MoreSports Society (BMS) is a registered charity providing sports programs for vulnerable children and youth. BMS works with community partners to eliminate traditional barriers to play, so that more youngsters can enjoy sports in a safe, structured and non-competitive environment.
BMS provides free after-school sports recreation programs to young children (grades 2-5) in Burnaby. These programs are delivered by experienced, trained staff who work alongside volunteer junior and senior youth coaches to provide mentorship and leadership opportunities. BMS currently provides quality programs and camps at 8 elementary schools and serves over 500 youngsters annually.
The mission of BMS is to create sustainable community sport programs in Burnaby neighbourhoods so that all children and youth have an opportunity to develop life skills and a love of sport. Working with local partner agencies, organizations and supporters, BMS allows youngsters to get involved in regular physical activity and play independent of ability, background and circumstance. We would like to see every child in the city have this chance, and we know there is much more demand for our services.
