A Greener Future is an environmental nonprofit that focuses on litter cleanup, prevention, and education. We organize initiatives that involve and educate citizens in order to minimize environmental destruction caused by waste and litter. To date, A Greener Future has picked up over 1 million pieces of litter with the help of volunteers. We collect data related to the items we pick up in order to determine the best solutions for the most common types of litter found. Our litter cleanups are based on zero waste principles which means a majority of what we pick up is recycled or composted instead of being sent to the landfill. We are looking for a forward thinking fundraising professional who is passionate about the environment and is interested in helping solve a challenging issue. This internship has the opportunity to turn into summer employment or a permanent position if you're the right fit for our team.

The following values drive our organization’s work:

  • Respect - We value human rights and believe everyone has the right to a healthy environment
  • Inclusion - We promote diversity, inclusion, and equity throughout our initiatives and are open to solutions that accommodate a range of circumstances
  • Accountability - We are responsible, accountable and always improving our strategies
  • Partnerships - We engage in partnerships to expand our impact and gain support from others

A Greener Future’s services include:

  • planning and hosting litter cleanups in a number of communities
  • providing educational information, materials, and waste minimizing tools to citizens
  • developing solutions for today’s litter issues including the promotion of zero waste practices

This role focuses on empowering all types of people to support A Greener Future’s mission. You will have the opportunity to educate people about who we are, what we do, why we do it and, most importantly, how they can help. A healthy, litter-free environment is our number one priority and in order to achieve this, we need community support and involvement. You will work alongside our Executive Director to assist in program development, organization advocacy, and building connections within the local community to help raise funding for our operations and programming. Currently, we rely on grant funding, online sales from our zero waste shop, and the sale of zero waste items at Farmer’s Market booths across Ontario. We would like to diversify our income and develop a stronger strategy to ensure the sustainability of our operations. We want your ideas and inspiration to help take our organization to the next level.
