Do you have an interest in working with children and books? The Writing & Book Camp is looking for volunteers aged 18 years and older to act as camp counsellors and assistants for campers, ages 11-16, throughout the week of August 12 - 16, 2019.
The Writing & Book Camp brings together children and teens with a passion for reading and writing and well-known authors and illustrators in a creative workshop environment. Nicola I. Campbell, Tony Cliff, Zoe Si, and Lindsay Wong are just some of the professional authors and illustrators who will be presenting at this year’s program.
CAMP COUNSELLORS: We require Camp Counsellors who are willing to take responsibility for a small group of campers throughout a week of activities. Counsellors should have experience working with children, preferably with a background or interest in education, creative writing, and/or library sciences.
CAMP ASSISTANTS: We also require full-time and part-time assistants who are responsible for helping with supporting the counsellors and workshop leaders, greeting the presenters, and documenting the camp.
Our previous volunteers have found the camp an excellent opportunity to gain experience and skills in a variety of areas. A training and orientation session will be provided beforehand.
“It’s been a great experience here at the Book Camp. The kids all seem to genuinely love reading and writing. Their passion is truly amazing!”
