Chinese Community Policing Centre (CCPC) is recruiting Front Desk Receptionists. The Front Desk Receptionist represents CCPC to the public who walk in or call us Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you want to support our mission of enhancing community safety, come join us!


  • To help our Centre’s office function smoothly, including answering the phone, administrative duties and greeting the public


Essential Job Functions

  • Greet people coming into office, and direct them to the appropriate contacts or services
  • Provide policing-related information in person or by phone
  • Screen and forward telephone calls, and take messages 
  • Refer clients to other community agencies
  • Perform clerical duties, e.g. data entry



  • 18 years or older
  • Proficiency in the English language and Cantonese or Mandarin language
  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office Excel and Word, and search information on internet
  • Comfortable answering and receiving phone calls
  • Adopt a positive and respectful communication style
  • Reliable, punctual and non-judgmental
  • Comfortable working with diverse populations
  • Ability to attend an interview and obtain Vancouver Police Information Check
  • Provision of 3 formal references (We suggest you to obtain permission and their email contact from them before submitting the application. We only contact your professional references via email. They should know you more than 6 months, e.g. your current/previous employer, teacher, settlement worker or landlord. We do NOT accept your friends, family or classmates.)
  • Successful completion of our Volunteer Orientation and Front Desk Training
  • Abide by the CCPC Volunteer Confidentiality Affirmation, Code of Conduct, and General Policy as well as any project/program-specific protocols and procedures


Time Commitment

  • Minimum ½ day per week for a minimum of 6 months
  • Undergo a 6-month Probation Period



  • Letter of Reference available upon request after completion of 6-month volunteer commitment

While we try to place every prospective volunteer, management reserves the right to reject applicants who do not meet our current needs, requirements, suitability, and/or placement criteria.
