Title: Accounting Team Lead

# of Positions Available: 1

Hours: 2-4 hrs./week Max.; scheduling is flexible

Location: Centre for Social Innovation Regent Park but mostly via virtual (internet) channels

Role Description: The Accounting Team Lead will oversee TAST's accounting and finances, and contribute to program planning and growth initiatives. Note: To be considered for this position, you must have book-keeping, tax preparation, auditing, cashflow projection, financial reporting, and management accounting experience.


  • Collaborate with Treasurer to oversee bookkeeping, payroll, cashflow, banking, and budget management for day to day operations;

  • Contribute accounting/financial information, observations, recommendations to business development and operational strategies;

  • Manage and contribute to the creation of profit/loss statements, balance sheets, cashflow statements, and other financial statements;

  • Keep track of organization's financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses, and coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data;

  • Collaborate with Executive Director to formulate pricing models and strategy;

  • Maintains financial security by establishing financial procedures and controls;

  • Ensure compliance with current and proposed accounting and financial legislation and regulations

  • Completing other job related tasks and projects assigned by Executive Director


  • University or college degree in accounting with minimum B-average

  • Previous book-keeping, tax preparation, auditing, cashflow projection, financial reporting, and management accounting experience.

  • Knowledge of and experience in t4 slips

  • Solid reading, writing, and communication skills

  • Knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft operating systems including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Works well within an interdisciplinary team in a diverse and dynamic work environment

  • Excellent organization, analysis, and problem solving

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision when required

  • Previous work or volunteer experience in community outreach and a passion for working with children and youth, especially from high priority or marginalized communities

  • Fluency in languages other than English an asset


  • Personal reference or reference letter for job or post graduate applications

  • Solid volunteer or job experience and work to add to professional portfolio, resume, or community service credits
