The Credit Valley Conservation Authority (CVC) is a partnership of the municipalities within the Credit River Watershed. We are dedicated to the conservation, protection, restoration and sustainable development of the natural resources of our watershed. Together we have a long and successful history of ensuring a clean supply of water for human and environmental needs. At this time, we are seeking to fill the position of: Volunteer Event Ambassador.


Become an Event Ambassador

Are you interested in the environment and the work that Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) does? Would you like to attend fairs and festivals on behalf of CVC? Are you comfortable speaking to members of the public about environmental issues and various environmental programs? If so, consider becoming an Event Ambassador for CVC!

(Up to 8 positions available)

Events take place in multiple locations within the Credit River Watershed (Orangeville, Halton Hills, Erin, Caledon, Brampton and Mississauga)

Program Commitment: This is a year-long program; however the majority of the events fall between April – June. Expected commitment is a minimum of four events. Shifts will generally be 3-5 hours long.

Start Date: Must be able to attend MANDATORY TRAINING on Monday, April 1, 2019 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at CVC Head Office (1255 Old Derry Road, Mississauga). Approximately 3 hours of at-home training is required prior to the April 1st training session.

  • Spoken level of English required: Intermediate
  • Written level of English required: Basic

Skills or Education Required

  • Confident when speaking to the public
  • Enthusiastic and friendly
  • Interest in environmental issues
  • Good communication skills
  • Motivated and a self-starter
  • Minimum high school education
  • Must have access to transportation
  • Knowledge of or experience with Credit Valley Conservation an asset
  • Other languages an asset


Event Ambassadors assist CVC with outreach to watershed residents at local community events. Event Ambassadors will attend various events on behalf of CVC and/or alongside CVC staff in order to grow the community’s awareness of our organization and programs. This position will involve:

  • Learning about what CVC does and sharing it with the public
  • Promoting CVC events and volunteer opportunities
  • Endorsing CVC’s goals and our projects
  • Engaging the public through interactive and educational activities
  • Setting up and dismantling displays with promotional materials
  • Collecting contact information for necessary follow-up purposes
  • Encouraging people to sign-up for our online blog and events email

  Training Provided:

  • General CVC background and Health & Safety
  • Job specific training
  • Some at-home training required (online AODA training + review of CVC policies and procedures) - approximately 3 hours
  • In-class training date is Monday, April 1, 2019 5:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. and will take place at CVC’s Head Office (Mississauga)
