Position Title: Saturday Volunteer

Department: Community Wellness

Reports to: Community Program Lead


Program Description:

SPRINT Senior Care’s Mobile Active Living Centre will provide a range of programs to approximately 100 seniors throughout the North Toronto region that promote independence, active and healthy living and social engagement. Programs include line dancing, gentle exercise and brain games.

Position Summary:  

The volunteer will work directly with the Program Facilitators to provide support to the participants and the instructor. The volunteer will assist in setting up and cleaning up the program. The volunteer will interact and engage with participants. Participants are encouraged to participate in the programming (ex. Exercise, tablet use, active games, brain exercises, etc.)

Quality, Health & Safety/Risk Management:

To reduce risk to clients, employees, volunteers and the agency, SPRINT Senior Care expects that all employees and volunteers will work within the mandate of their job description, and abide by the policies and procedures of the agency. Each volunteer is responsible for acting in a way that will not put themselves or others at risk.


  • Maintain client confidentiality at all times
  • Provide support to program participants
  • Participate in the program
  • Participate positively and contribute to the positive image of SPRINT Senior Care in the community
  • Adhere to and participate in all SPRINT Senior Care system requirements

Time Commitment: 

3 - 3.5 hours per week. We need one volunteer in each program: 

  • Tuesdays 9:30 am to 12:30pm – 1 William Morgan Dr (Overlea/Don Mills)
  • Tuesday 12:00 am to 3:30 pm3179 Yonge St (Yonge/Lawrence)
  • Friday 1:00 pm to 4:00pm – 1 William Morgan Dr (Overlea/Don Mills)
  • Volunteers should consider a six month commitment


  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Comfortable socializing with seniors
  • Able to exercise sound judgment, flexibility and to work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Able to focus on the needs of an elderly person or individual with disabilities
  • Able to be patient, understanding and compassionate
  • Satisfactory police records check
