HIEC, Halton Industry Education Council, is a dynamic, not-for-profit community organization, located in Burlington and we’re seeking a volunteer receptionist/administrative assistant for our Career Awareness Centre.

As an innovative not-for-profit social enterprise, HIEC focuses on partnership, mentorship and workforce development in Ontario. With almost 30 years of experience as an active community-focused organization, HIEC’s goal is to enhance career education and inspire youth to make informed career decisions. Our supportive, innovative, entrepreneurial team is excited to have you join us.

We are seeking a volunteer receptionist/administrative assistant to support us on a part time or full time basis. As our front-line ambassador, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in your community and gain valuable job skills. You will assist management and visitors to our Career Awareness Centre by handling office tasks, providing assistance in person, via phone and e-mail and generally being a helpful and positive presence at our front reception desk.

  • To be successful, you’ll need the following:
    • You are professional, polite, attentive and a master multi-tasker with excellent communication skills and upbeat attitude.
    • Prior reception, administrative or customer service experience.
    • Daytime availability (Mon – Fri – 8:30am – 4:30pm - Volunteers may choose between morning and afternoon options, 4 hours per day, minimum 15-20 hours per week.)
    • Excellent computer skills (data entry, word processing, internet search) and competency in MS Office, Outlook, etc.
    • Advanced oral and written English and attention to detail.
    • Ability to use a multi-line phone.
    • Good time management skills.
    • Desire to be proactive and create a positive experience for others and able to contribute positively as part of a team, helping out with various tasks as required.
    • Consistent, professional dress and manner.
