Who We Are

PeaceGeeks is a non-profit organization that builds digital tools to empower grassroots communities around the world in the pursuit of peace and human rights. We are based in Vancouver, Canada, and Amman, Jordan. We have a number of cool and geeky technology projects in motion, funded by the Governments of Canada and British Columbia, and These projects include the development of an app for newcomers to Canada, and a community initiative working to combat extremism online.


Who We Are Looking For

PeaceGeeks is looking to add a couple of Recruiters to join our dynamic Human Resources team to execute the full-cycle recruitment process in pursuit of top-notch volunteers and, occasionally, staff. From conducting job analyses to pre-screening and interviewing candidates, you contribute to hiring the right people – both culture and job-fit – into our organization. This position would be best suited to an individual who possesses a progressive interest in human resources, while keeping up-to-date with global issues and current events, preferably pertinent to peacebuilding. The time commitment for this remote (work from home) volunteer position is on average 3-5 hours per week – we are flexible.

We are open to having students currently enrolled in post-secondary education apply!


What You Will Be Doing

  • Create job descriptions for new positions and update previous job descriptions according to current business requirements
  • Phone-screen shortlisted candidates, followed by composing summaries for hiring managers to review
  • Utilize a multitude of job boards (LinkedIn, Indeed, Charity Village, etc.) to advertise job openings
  • Use the Applicant Tracking System to generate updates and track the recruiting statuses for candidates
  • Monitor the recruiting mailbox weekly and respond to specific recruiting enquiries
  • Assist in the preparation of orientation and onboarding for new volunteers
  • Work with the Recruitment Team Lead and Human Resources team on ad-hoc process improvement projects and deliverables

What You Bring To Us

  • Working towards or completed post-secondary education in human resources management, business administration, or a related discipline is an asset
  • Experience in recruitment and human resources is preferred
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, Skype, and the ability to learn other systems, such as ATS
  • Ability to work independently, as well as being a resourceful team player
  • Collaborative working style and relationship building abilities
  • Ability to handle confidential information and maintain a high degree of ethics
  • Knowledgeable of current issues and events locally and globally is an asset
