The Volunteer’s Role

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a new regional nutrition project led by CARE Canada. The Southern Africa Nutrition Initiative (SANI) will improve the nutrition of women of reproductive age and reduce stunting of growth for children under five years old in Mozambique, Zambia, and Malawi.

CARE’s Southern African Nutrition Initiative (SANI) aims to improve the nutritional status of women of reproductive age and children under 5, while working with local health authorities and communities in Malawi, Mozambique, and Zambia. Specifically, SANI is expected to contribute to the improved health of approximately 230,000 individuals directly, and over 345,000 individuals indirectly.

As Program Management Support you will help in the implementation of capacity development projects in Zambia. You will be maintaining an efficient office through the support of administrative duties and contributing to smooth project implantation by working to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the project activities.


As a volunteer, you will:

-Support communication with CARE Zambia head office and Care Canada enhanced.  

-Support communication with stakeholders (CUSO, ICAD, Government ministries)

-Contribute to the writing and documentation of project reports.

-Work with the project manager to support project schedules and resources.

-Ensure quality and effective implementation of project actives.

-Writing of minutes during meetings

-Assist with all other administrative duties under the direction of the project manager.


Essential Academic Qualifications:

-Degree Community Development, Public Health or any other related field


Essential Professional Background:

-Experience in project management

-Experience living, working or volunteering in Africa organizations

-Excellent communication skills

-Self-starter and ability to work well independently

-Good problem-solving skills

-Excellent organizational/detail oriented
