9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.


Join Habitat for Humanity GTA for the sweetest event of the year – Gingerbread Build!  Many hands make light work, so we need lots of energetic volunteers to help deliver a magical experience for the families attending.  Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area (Habitat GTA) is a non-profit housing organization that mobilizes volunteers and communities to help working, lower income families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.  


Duties & Responsibilities

Event tasks will include but not limited to:

  • Set up outdoors and parking signs
  • Set up event décor
  • Stuff more candy bags
  • Event registration and greeting
  • Direct people to pick up their Gingerbread kit
  • Assist with the hot beverage set-up and hand-out
  • Handle cash transactions for the candies, icing, extra GB kits, Habitat holiday cards, gift catalogues
  • Manage the prizing table display
  • Hand out parking directions
  • Clean up the space and prepare for next day


  • Volunteers with event experience are preferred, however, the willingness to “think on your feet” and strong teamwork skill is key.
  • Ability to lift up to 20lb as there will be some moving around at the set-up.
  • Minimum age : 16 years



  • Complimentary hot beverages and snacks! Music, candies and holiday-themed decor
  • Join like-minded volunteers and staff in having an impact in affordable housing in the GTA
