March of Dimes Canada is seeking volunteers!


The DesignAbility Program connects individuals in need with volunteers to offer custom built solutions and modifications to the everyday challenges that can be faced by people living with disabilities.  The program has various chapters throughout Ontario.


Our DesignAbility program is seeking Chapter Assistants! The Chapter Assistant supports a creative team of volunteers with some administrative functions for their Chapter. The volunteer will attend all Chapter meetings, take notes, and provide the team with tips on how to streamline some of the paperwork. The volunteer will also provide community outreach for the program, including promoting the program at community events and developing crucial relationships to solicit future projects. This volunteer will enable the creative team of hands-on volunteers to focus their attention on building projects.



  • Chapter Meetings: Each year, 6-10 Chapter meetings will take place from 6:00-8:00pm; roughly 5 hours per month including admin work
  • Community Outreach: 2-4 hours per month (attending local community events, trade shows, and conferences)

This position requires a commitment of 2-9 hours per month, and a minimum 6 month commitment.

Location: Various MODC Offices where DesignAbility is located, community events, and trade shows


Experience required or preferred:

  • Must be over 16 years of age (required)
  • Previous volunteer experience (preferred)


Skills and qualifications required or preferred:

  • Strong computer skills (preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal skills (preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable public speaker (preferred)
  • Reliable (required)
  • Self-directed; able to work independently (required)
  • Able to follow direction (required)
  • Able to demonstrate a positive attitude (required)
  • Respects and values the opinions and ideas of others (required)
