Support & Housing – Halton
Support & Housing – Halton (SHH) is a nonprofit agency that delivers housing and community support services to people experiencing mental health, substance use and/or addictions concerns, and provides system-wide support to health service providers, community agencies and government bodies regarding peer support.
SHH housing and community support services are provided across Halton with SHH offices located in Oakville, Burlington, Acton and Milton. More recently, SHH has expanded into Peel with the opening of an office in Mississauga. SHH system-wide support is provided through training, implementation and evaluation of peer support programs, and through conducting research with those with lived experience to inform local service planning. In support of this work, we have regional, national and international partnerships.
SHH core values include person-directed supports (we put people first); connection + engagement (we start conversations, build and maintain relationships, and are reflexive and responsive in our practices); and, health + wellness (we focus on practices that inspire our culture).
The SHH Board membership is composed of volunteers who work and/or live in the Halton and surrounding community. The time commitment required for a Director of the Board is approximately 60-70 hours per year. Meetings are held monthly on Monday evenings at the Oakville office.
