March of Dimes Canada is seeking volunteers!

Are you a compassionate, respectful, and reliable individual?  If so, we are looking for people like you! 

LIFE serves young people who have a physical disability that are making the transition into adulthood. The program provides participants with a learning environment to expand their social and professional skills while practicing the daily responsibilities of adulthood.

We are currently looking for Program Assistant Volunteers to help enhance our program. The LIFE Program Assistant is responsible for providing program support to participants and staff by helping with the day to day running of the program. The Program Assistant will also support staff in day trips to off-site locations. Volunteers will engage directly with the participants as a support system and peer to maximize their experience in the program.


This position requires a minimum commitment of 10 weeks. The program runs Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from roughly 10am-3pm, and eligible volunteers must be available for a minimum of one full program day. Program Assistants can expect a time commitment of 5-10 hours/week.

Experience required or preferred:

  • Experience working with people with disabilities (preferred)
  • Previous volunteer experience (preferred)

Skills and qualifications required or preferred:

  • Excellent communication skills (required)
  • Strong interpersonal skills (required)
  • Able to follow direction (required)
  • Self-directed; able to work independently and take initiative (required)
  • Comfortable lifting/mobilizing participants as needed (required)
  • Empathetic (required)

  • Able to demonstrate a positive attitude (required)
