Are you an auto detailer in the St. Thomas area? Do you have a passion for returning cars to like-new condition?  Would you like to share that passion with a student?

We currently have a 17-year old student who is interested in learning about automotive detailing. He has already started a small at-home car cleaning service but would like to expand his knowledge of proper car cleaning including cleaning of upholstery, and buffing out small scratches. He’d love to connect with someone already in the industry to learn techniques, as well as how to run a small business.  He is patient, detail-oriented and passionate about making cars feel like new.

Student Links is an initiative by Community Living Ontario. Our goal is to promote inclusiveness for those living with a disability. Student Links is a program specifically for students between the ages of 14-21. We match these students with a mentor in their community with whom they share common interests. Students are provided with an opportunity to explore different roles based on their interests, practice hard and soft skills and network.  This helps them form decisions about the choices available to them upon graduation.

The role of a mentor is a highly rewarding one, and can take many forms. I seek people who are passionate about their work, and those who want to share their expertise with someone who might not otherwise be exposed to such experiences.  There is no requirement in terms of time commitments.  A mentorship is formed with the help of the program coordinator and can take many forms depending on the availability of the mentor and student.

If this sounds like something you would enjoy contact Sarah Ellis-Pierron at sellispierron@communitylivingontario.ca or 519-520-8268 for more information on this or any other mentorship opportunities. Check out our website at: https://communitylivingontario.ca/en/francais-student-links/
