With award season in full swing, we thought it would be fun to take a little time to recognize and celebrate the achievements of a most pervasive and persuasive cinematic sub-genre. The one that makes you shed a tear, open your wallet, or remind your husband to schedule his prostate exam: the Charity Campaign Video.

There’s no red carpet. No designer dresses. Just ten great charity campaign videos from the past year, as selected by the CharityVillage® Editorial Team, all vying for your votes for the ultimate prize: the 2012 ‘Buzzie Award’ for Best Charity Campaign Video.

Here’s how it works:

We’ve posted YouTube videos of each of the 10 nominees below in random order. All you need to do is watch the videos and then head over to our Facebook Page to “like” your favourite videos from among the nominees (You can like as many as you like). The video that garners the most virtual thumbs up by end of day on Friday, January 27 will take home the Buzzie, and everyone who votes will be entered into a draw for a free copy of Social Media for Social Good by Heather Mansfield.

You can also follow the action and share your favourite videos on Twitter. Just use the #Buzzies hashtag and encourage your friends and colleagues to vote for their favourites.

And the nominees are:

Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada
Death Loves Women. Make Death Wait
