Abilities Expo – Health Day, Volunteers

World Health Day is a global health awareness occasion celebrated every year on April 7th. The event takes place at the Roundhouse Community Centre from 11:00 am-4:00 pm. World Health Day’s message is simple: giving people access to healthcare without the prospect of financial hardship.

Community Food Hub Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to help at our 13 Community Food Hubs. We need volunteers who can help unload our trucks, distribute food to clients and help as needed!

Regional Food Distribution Manager

The Regional Food Distribution Manager administers the Lower Mainland Food Distribution Program based at Vancouver Harbour Light. The Manager collaborates with the Lower Mainland Food Distribution Committee and is responsible (in whole or in collaboration) for the general administration, donor relations, program management, and supply and demand planning of the Program. They will also work closely with Harbour Light’s Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, Harbour Light Fundraising Coordinator, participating ministry units, and current/potential donors to ensure effective supply planning (e.g. capacity evaluation, facilitating allocation among ministry units), demand planning, and donor stewardship.

Are you looking to gain experience in the non-profit sector? Are you interested in helping to foster a safer space for 2SLGBTQ+ youth? Toby’s Place is a 2SLGBTQ+ youth drop-in center looking for folks to help us with kitchen duties, supporting workshops and activities, and set-up/clean up of our Monday afternoon program. Minimum 3 hours per week required. TTC transportation provided.

The Relief Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals, cleaning the serving area and cafeteria, and assisting the Food Services Co-ordinator with the preparation of meals and snacks.

ABOUT YWCA 1st STOP WOODLAWN
There are six main components to the service delivered by 1st Stop Woodlawn. The program provides 22 shelter beds to young women (16–25 years of age); 22 shelter beds to women 26 years and older; 6 rooms in Second Stage Supportive Housing for mature and/or senior women and 6 second stage rooms for young women not ready for independent living. The Housing Help program provides advocacy referral and support to residents in the shelter. The Transitional Support program provides aftercare to residents and their children providing support through group work, counselling and connecting women to supports. The Ministry of Health Rent Supplement Program provides housing and support to women with mental health issues.

Community resource centre seeks consultant to provide support in developing a business case for the internal provision of food for our community food programs.

Full Time Cook

In a compassionate, hospitable and non-judgmental manner the Cook under supervision will be responsible for the preparation and provision of all meals and snacks for the Guests of our Emergency Shelter, Community Hot Meal Program and Catering functions.
